THE GIRL CHILD PROGRAM

SHOTS FROM THE GIRL CHILD PROGRAM

THE UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD

On 11th October, 2012, the United Nations inaugurated The International Day of The Girl Child. It is in response to the major problem the girl child facesin our world today - the devaluation and neglect of the girl child. Since then October 11th of every year has been dedicated to the Girl Child.
The international day of the Girl Child is aimed at galvanizing a worldwide enlightenment to better the life of the girl child by providing her with leadership opportunities and supporting her to reach her potential. It also aims at mobilizing leaders to remove the barriers to the development of the girl child and support the education, rights and privileges of the girl child; and to create opportunities that will advance the lives of the present and future life of girl child.

OUR FOCUS

Kofi Annan once said that "there is no tool for development more effective than the education of girls and the empowerment of women".
We are aware that one of the major challenges we have in homes and families today is uninformed mothers which stems from the fact tht an uneducated girl child is an uneducated mother, we at SERAPHINE OUTREACH are persuaded that investing in the girl child is one very key to eliminating poverty and creating a brighter and safer future for our society and the world.
We are committed to the betterment of the life of the girl child and the mother of tomorrow.

OBJECTIVES

We are aware that one of the major causes of neglect of the girl child in the society is ignorance among those who should advocate for their growth, development and education - parents and leaders. As stated in the proposal, we want to use this occasion to:

  • Mobilize parents and leaders to begin to think differently about the girl child.
  • To remove the barriers to the total development of the girl child.
  • To support the education, rights and privileges of the girl child while ensuring that opportunities ae created that will advance the lives of the present and future life of girl child.
Educate the girl children themselves on what they need to do to live out their potentials.
